IOLs (intraocular lenses) are implants used during cataract surgery to replace the natural lens in your eye that has been removed by the doctor. There are many types of IOLs, and some advanced technology now allows for implanting lenses that accommodate for astigmatism and allow a wide range of focal points – in many cases eliminating the need for glasses or contacts after cataract surgery.
