At Wiles Eye Center, we recognize that healthy eyes and good vision are vital elements of a happy life. That is why our entire team is dedicated to helping our patients optimize their ocular health. Since affordability is one of the main excuses people use for not seeking eye care, our offices in Kansas City and St. Joseph, Missouri, can assist you in finding financial solutions that allow you to maintain great vision throughout your life.
Insurance
For your convenience, we accept most major insurance plans, and we will verify whether we accept your specific policy when you schedule your appointment. Please bring your insurance card when you visit our office.
One question our patients often ask is whether their treatment is covered by health or vision insurance. Most of the services we offer — such as treatment for cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eye, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy — are covered (at least in part) by medical insurance policies. Vision insurance is appropriate for standard eye care services like eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses.
Unfortunately, even in cases where a treatment is covered by health and vision insurance, eye care centers are not legally allowed to bill more than one plan. Our knowledgeable professionals will help to file the appropriate claim to maximize the benefits you are entitled to.
Financing
For procedures not covered by insurance or additional out-of-pocket expenses (such as for intraocular lenses), Wiles Eye Center offers multiple financing options so that patients can pay for their treatment in installments. The most popular financing choice is through CareCredit, the country’s leading medical lender. To see how much you would owe for a specific treatment, use CareCredit’s payment calculator.
Quality Care at Every Step
Just as you can expect top-notch care from our ophthalmologists and optometrists, our friendly patient coordinators are here to help serve you with the best customer service. This includes answering all your finance-related questions before and after your treatment. Our professionals take an unhurried approach to make sure you understand all your options so that you can make an informed decision with minimal stress.
Affordability & Financing FAQs
Can I pay my bill online?
Yes, use the Patient Portal to access the online bill pay option.
How much does eye care cost at Wiles Eye Center?
The price you pay ultimately depends on the treatment you seek and the specific insurance policy you have. While prices are determined on a case-by-case basis, we strive to be transparent with our patients so they can make smart decisions about their care. Our patient coordinators are happy to discuss the anticipated costs.
Is it worth it to have vision insurance?
Vision insurance is usually valuable for patients who rely on prescription lenses to correct refractive errors like nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. Patients who undergo refractive surgery like LASIK or RLE (refractive lens exchange) or even use premium intraocular lenses with cataract surgery may no longer need standard vision insurance.
Health insurance covers other forms of eye care such as disease, infection, injury, or a condition that develops in relation to another health problem.
